MANILA, Philippines – Tiger Woods avoided a possible disqualification from the Masters when he was assessed a two-stroke penalty for taking an improper drop during the second round. The American world No. 1, a hot favorite at Augusta National where he is a four-time champion, earned his reprieve after a penalty drop he took at the par-5 15th. Woods suffered a freakish bounce with his third shot at the hole, and instead of going to the drop area on the far side of the water, he chose to play his fifth shot from the same place as his third. -- Dateline Philippines, ANC, April 14, 2013
