A deadly riot at the Altamira Prison in northern Brazil has killed at least 52 prisoners.
According to prison officials on Monday, 16 of the dead were decapitated and the rest were asphyxiated.
Number of casualties could rise as the authorities have yet to search all of the prison.
This gang-related riot began when a group of prisoners attacked a prison wing controlled by a rival faction during breakfast.
Inmates also set fires and that held up the authorities for about five hours.
Such gang-related riots are common in Brazil's prisons as human rights groups say jails have become recruitment centers for gangs.
