MANILA, Philippines – Marion Bartoli finally won her first Wimbledon title after defeating Sabini Lisicki on a sun-drenched Centre Court. Bartoli, the 15th seed, took full advantage of a very nervous Lisicki, who knocked out defending champion Serena Williams in the fourth round. Lisicki, the 23rd seed, broke Bartoli’s serve in the opening game of the match, and eventually secured the opening set in 31 minutes. But in the end, Bartoli faced only token resistance in the succeeding sets as the German froze on the biggest occasion of her career. With the win, Bartoli became the first French player to win a Grand Slam title since her coach, Amelie Mauresmo, in 2006. ANC, July 7, 2013
