The tensions between Korea and Japan have caused fewer Koreans to travel to the island nation considered a favorite holiday destination during Korean thanksgiving.
Local e-commerce firm TMON says over the past two years Osaka was the most popular overseas destination for South Koreans during Chuseok, but the city is now number six.
More than 30 percent of overseas plane tickets booked last year were to Japan, but this year that figure has fallen to below 11 percent.
Koreans are now choosing to go elsewhere, such as Southeast Asia or opting to travel locally.
