Acting US Prisons Director
After Epstein's Death.
Hugh Hurwitz had been acting
director of the Federal Bureau
of Prisons since May of 2018.
Under his watch, accused
sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was
found dead in his prison cell.
His death was ruled a suicide.
Two weeks earlier, Epstein
had been found unconscious
in his cell with marks on his
neck due to an attempted suicide.
Following the announcement
of Epstein's death, Attorney
General William Barr released a
statement saying he was "appalled" at the news.
Barr will name
Kathleen Hawk Sawyer
as the new director.
Hawk Sawyer previously
served as the director of
the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
