한국당, 광화문서 대규모 장외집회…"文정권 규탄"
South Korea's main opposition Liberty Korea Party held a rally in central Seoul this afternoon to protest against the Moon Jae-in administration.
The conservative party demanded the president withdraw his pick for justice minister Cho Kuk -- a former senior presidential secretary.
They claim Cho is unfit for the position,... pointing to allegations of fraud and real estate law violations involving him and his family, as well as fresh complaints that Cho's daughter received preferential academic treatment.
The Liberty Korea Party is also calling on the government to review its decision to pull out of GSOMIA, its joint military intel-sharing pact with Japan,... saying the move will have serious implications for Seoul's security cooperation with the U.S.
In response, the ruling Democratic Party slammed the main opposition party, saying there was no justification to hold a rally.
It called on the Liberty Korea Party to return to the National Assembly and set a date for Cho's confirmation hearing.
