The prime minister’s economic adviser Muhammad Abdul Khalid admitted that the Economic Affairs Ministry’s yardstick for poverty was outdated. He said to resolve this problem, we should accept reality.

This comes after UN special rapporteur Philip Alston criticised the Malaysian government for severely under-representing the true state of poverty in the country.
