MANILA, Philippines – Anthony Pettis’ long quest for a UFC title finally paid off, as he defeated Benson Henderson in the main event of UFC 164 to win the lightweight championship. “Showtime” submitted “Smooth” with a tight armbar at the 4:31 mark of the first round. After receiving four hard body kicks, Henderson was able to take Pettis to the ground. Known for his flashy kicking, Pettis surprised the champ with the slick submission maneuver as he snapped Henderson’s seven-fight winning streak. In the co-main event, Josh Barnett also got the job in the first round, beating former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. Barnett, who waited 11 years for his return to the UFC, dominated throughout, scoring a TKO victory at the 1:56 mark. -- Mornings @ ANC, September 2, 2013
