MANILA, Philippines – In the United States, it was a Kenyan sweep at the New York City marathon as chilly, windy conditions persisted through the city’s five boroughs. Priscah Jeptoo won the women’s race, overtaking front-running Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba with about two miles to go. Jeptoo clocked in two hours, 25 minutes and seven seconds to claim a huge payday. Meanwhile, Geoffrey Mutai had to wait a year before defending his title, as the 2012 race was cancelled due to damage inflicted by superstorm Sandy.
