MANILA -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has asked distributors and manufacturers to position their goods in Eastern Visayas in preparation for a price freeze. “When the supplies have been moved there, we will implement a price freeze so that the prices won’t be unreasonably high.” DTI director Vic Dimagiba said in an interview with ANC on Sunday. He said retailers usually have supplies that will last for a week or so but noted that “there is a need for replenishment” considering the situation. According to him, manufacturers and distributors are now just waiting for the go signal that roads are clear so that they can move their goods. Dimagiba also warned price manipulators and hoarders against violating the Price Act.
