MANILA - Albay Gov. Joey Salceda on Tuesday confirmed that corruption at the Matnog Port in Sorsogon is to blame for the long queues of trucks carrying relief goods for typhoon victims. The line stretched to 10 kilometers are one point, causing delays in the shipping of goods from Matnog to Allen in Samar. Speaking to ANC's Headstart, Salceda said he received private messages from various individuals that port authorities were asking for money to let vehicles through the port. He said one general paid P400 to get through the port quickly while another individual paid P2,000. "Bakit walang kotse dun na nakapila? Kasi yung may-ari may dala. Nakakabayad. E yung mga truck puro kasi pahinante. Ano naman ang pakialam nila? Maghihintay na lang sila," he said. The governor said additional ships from the Philippine Navy and the opening of the Bulan and Pio Duran ports helped in decongesting the line. He also said any investigation on the corruption should be done after the crisis is over. "Solve the problem. Life and death yan e. Solve the problem, fix the problem, not the blame. Saka na yan. There is enough documentation for it. My PMs are full of it...Kung mag-iimbestiga kami lalo pa hahaba yung queue dun. Pagkatapos na," he said. ANC HEADSTART, November 19, 2013
