MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III is reportedly eyeing former Senator Panfilo Lacson to lead the government’s rehabilitation efforts in typhoon-hit areas. Three ABS-CBN sources confirmed that Lacson’s name came up in a cabinet meeting on Friday, but noted that there has been no formal order from the President to make Lacson the “rehabilitation czar.” Sources said Lacson met with Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa for two hours after the meeting, where he supposedly relayed Lacson’s responsibilities. Lacson has supposedly asked for two days to weigh the Palace’s offer. -- News Now, ANC, December 1, 2013.
