MANILA - Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez believes that her father, Gerardo "Mang Gerry" Velasquez, just waited for the repeat of her 25th anniversary concert last year before he passed away on Monday. "I think 'yung Silver. Kasi kinakausap ko siya noon, sabi ko, 'Papa may isa pa akong concert, huwag mo muna akong iiwan.' So hinintay niya lang talaga 'yung ano, hindi ba nag-repeat," Regine shared, referring to her silver repeat concert last January. Mang Gerry was earlier reported to have been ill and was even hospitalized for more than a month late last year. He also underwent surgery in 2012. Regine said she is overwhelmed by the support that their family has been receiving following her father's passing. "Oo nga trending nga daw si Mang Gerry, sosyal. Actually doon ako naiiyak, doon ako nao-overwhelm kasi ang daming nakakaalala kay Papa," she said. On Twitter, celebrities Jed Madela, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Lea Salonga expressed their grief over the death of Mang Gerry. The Velasquez family plans to bury Mang Gerry this Friday at Manila Memorial Park in Bulacan.
