MANILA, Philippines – Some 12,000 trucks will be affected by the Daytime Truck Ban which will be enforced by the City of Manila on Monday. The MMDA says the city government has agreed to retain the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. window for trucks to ply certain Manila streets. Meantime, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the five-hour window to allow the delivery of products and ensure business will not be affected by the Truck Holiday. The truck holiday was proposed to ease heavy traffic in Manila. The Confederation of Truckers Association of the Philippines however says it will push through with its Truck Holiday, citing the five-hour window is not enough time to make deliveries. -- News Now, ANC, February 23, 2014.
