In South Africa, the High Court has ruled that cameras will be allowed in court for part of Olympian Oscar Pistorius’s murder trial. The double-amputee Olympic athlete known as “The Blade Runner” is accused of killing his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day of last year. Pistorius goes on trial on March 3 for murdering Reeva Steenkamp. The athlete said he mistook Steenkamp for a burglar when he shot her in the bathroom of his upscale home in Pretoria. If convicted of murder, he faces up to life in prison. Since it can be televised, the trial gives millions around the world direct access to one of the most sensational celebrity trials since OJ Simpson’s. -- Mornings @ ANC, February 26, 2014.
