NANNING, CHINA — That's nuts.
A police sniper positioned himself between the legs of a colleague and took out a man holding a woman hostage.
The hostage situation took place on August 9th in Nanning when the 18-year-old suspect named Huang, was loitering in the subway station before randomly selecting a woman... and grabbing her.
Chinese media outlet, Boxun News reports that during a two-hour stand-off with police, the suspect asked for a gun.
Chief negotiator Qi Hongwei told local reporters that he asked the suspect where he was from and why he was doing this.
Qi continued with, "I asked him to let the girl go and offered him water, but he said no to everything."
Captain Hao, head of the Nanning SWAT First Tactical Unit, was instructed to take out the man after negotiations broke down.
Hao can be seen laying behind one of his colleagues getting ready so the hostage-taker wouldn't spot him.
Hao successfully took out the target.
Crucially, the hostage was unhurt.
Captain Hao was awarded second-class merit by the Guangxi police for his bravery in the incident.
