MANILA – An official of the Bureau of Internal Revenue main office survived an ambush by two motorcycle-riding suspects along East Avenue in Quezon City on Thursday, reports said. Police have refused to name the victim as of posting, in light of the ongoing investigation. According to a witness, she saw two armed suspects, wearing helmets, shoot the victim. "Nakarinig ako ng putok, sabi ko hay anu yun, tapos sinabihan ako nung bumaril. Sabi nya wag ka sisigaw kundi babarilin kita," the witness recounted to police. The victim’s vehicle was riddled with bullets, but the BIR official luckily sustained only a gunshot wound in the shoulder. The victim was still able to drive to a nearby hospital for treatment. "Nag-U turn na sya tapos pumunta na sa hospital," the witness said. The police said the incident may be work-related. – From a report by Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
