MANILA -- Filipino-American Andres Fernandez is now in Manila to lead the cast of the Manila run of the international theatrical sensation "Stomp," which opens on Tuesday. "Stomp" will have its second run in Manila from June 17 to 22 at the CCP Main Theater. Appearing on "Mornings @ ANC" on Monday, Fernandez, who has been with the show for 17 years, explained that what attracts audiences to "Stomp" is how they turn everyday objects into musical instruments. "Everyone can relate to it. They can see onstage what we're doing and what we're playing with, and everybody's like, "Wow, I have that at home" or, "I saw that at the backyard, I can put that together," Fernandez said. He also noted that because they don't have any dialogues in the show, "Stomp" has a universal appeal. "'Stomp' is an exploration of sound. We make music with everyday objects," he said. "There's no talking on the show, it's universal." The last time Fernandez visited the Philippines was back in 1999, when he was still 17. He said he plans to meet some of his cousins for the first time during his visit, as he invited them to come see the show. "It's cool, I'm going to meet a lot of my cousins for the first time. I've been keeping in contact through Facebook," he said. "I feel really blessed to really come and do this."
