U.S. President Donald Trump claims his administration might reach a trade deal with China sooner than expected.
Speaking to reporters in New York on Wednesday after signing a trade deal with Japan, Trump said Beijing very badly wants a deal, and the Chinese, he said, are already making big agricultural purchases from the U.S., including beef and pork.
Over the past year, the world's two largest economies have imposed tariffs on billions of dollars worth of each other's goods.
High-level trade talks are due to resume next month.
