Actress/dancer Hagar Hamdi in the film Bent el Omeda from 1949
She was born in Tanta in 1924 and began her career at Badia's casino as a dancer and worked there for a while but Badia didn't think she was a good dancer and so she fired her.
Actor Youssef Wahbe then took her under his wing and worked with her and trained her. When he felt she was ready, he gave her a role in one of his films in 1944. He renamed her Hagar Hamdi (her real name was Fat7iea el Saied Ahmed el Nagar)
She proved in her films that she was indeed a good actress and a good dancer as well and she became very famous in the latter part of the 1940's.
She was married five times, once to Kamal el Shenawi ( who plays her husband in this film) with whom she had a child, and she was also married to Dr. Mohamed Fayed who later married Hind Rostum.
Hagar Hamdi appeared in about 47 movies and danced in most of them. She retired in the 1950s and went into the clothing business. She died in 2008 at age 84.
