The South Korean government plans to hike tax rates on high-earning online influencers and YouTubers to prevent tax evasion.
Seoul's finance ministry said it's been collecting information on YouTubers who earn more than 10-thousand U.S. dollars a year in foreign currency.
They get paid in the form of foreign remittance via Google's Asia-Pacific headquarters located in Singapore.
The tax office says there's a grey area on taxation for online influencers,... adding it will tighten the rules to ensure they pay their fair share.
