'Abominable' Tops Weekend
Box Office With $21 Million
DreamWorks Animation's latest film earned
$20.9 million at the domestic box office in its debut. 'Abominable' earned $10.2 million overseas for
a total of $31 million at the global box office.
Filmmaker Jill Culton is the first woman to be
credited as the lead director and writer of
an animated Hollywood studio film.
'Abominable' follows a teenager and her
two friends who travel across China
to reunite a young Yeti with his family. 'Downton Abbey' passed the $100 million
mark globally, but finished at No. 2 for
the weekend with $14.5 million.
'Hustlers' finished at No. 3 for the weekend with $11.5 million.
'It: Chapter Two' earned $10.4 million to finish
at No. 4 at the domestic box office.
'Ad Astra' was No. 5 with $10.1 million earned in its second weekend.
