Alex Trebek May Leave 'Jeopardy!'
Due to His Cancer Battle

In a recent interview on ‘W5,’ Alex Trebek
confessed that cancer has significantly
impacted his ability to host ‘Jeopardy!’.
I’m sure there are observant members
of the television audience that notice
also, but they’re forgiving …, Alex Trebek, via ‘W5’.
According to Trebek,
chemotherapy has caused
his hosting skills to “diminish.” .
I talk to the producers about this all the time now.
I say, ‘look I’m slurring my words. My tongue
doesn’t work as well as it used to.’ The chemo
has caused sores inside my mouth. It makes it
difficult for me to speak and enunciate properly. , Alex Trebek, via ‘W5’.
Trebek plans to continue hosting ‘Jeopardy!’
for now, but also admitted that he would
stop if his skills “diminish” too much.
When I feel like my skills have diminished to
the point that I notice and am bothered by it …
I notice now, but I’m not as bothered by it
because all of the people around me are saying
‘no it’s okay,’ but there will come a point where
they will no longer be able to say ‘it’s okay.’, Alex Trebek, via ‘W5’.
The 79-year-old went on to say that he is “not afraid
of dying” and that he’s lived a “good” and “full” life. .
[I’m] not afraid of dying .. I’m 79-years-old.
I’ve lived a good life, a full life and I’m nearing
the end of that life. I know that. I’m not going
to delude myself. So if it happens, it happens.
