With the impeachment inquiry dominating headlines in Washington,... House Democrats revealed a measure formally laying out the next steps in the inquiry against U.S. President Donald Trump.
Kim Da-mi reports.
The impeachment inquiry now enters its "public-facing phase," as House Democrats unveiled the text of a resolution laying out procedures for public hearings.
That means the Intelligence Committee will take the lead on planning public hearings, depositions and subpoenas of present and former officials.
After the House Rules Committee marks up the bill on Wednesday, Democrats plan to bring it to a full House vote on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a top adviser to President Trump on Ukraine has testified that he was seriously alarmed about U.S. national security after hearing the now infamous phone conversation between Trump and Ukraine's new leader which sparked off all the drama.
Testifying behind closed doors to House impeachment investigators on Tuesday,
Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman said he doesn't think it was "proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen" and he was "worried about the implications for the U.S. government's support of Ukraine."
The testimony makes him the first current White House official to testify on the subject.
The White House hit back on Tuesday, arguing that the Democrats' planned resolution shows the inquiry "has been an illegitimate sham from the start."
And posting more than 30 tweets and retweets within two hours on Tuesday morning, President Trump expressed anger and disgust against the moves by so-called "Never Trumpers" to try and get him impeached.
