Demonstrators in the Iraqi city of Nasiriyah have blocked access to bridges for the third day in a row today (November 5) at 10 am local time.

Footage shows demonstrators and police on Victory Bridge, as well as back up traffic due to the blockade that started early in the morning and ceasing around 10 am.

Their aim is to "to stop the work and declare civil disobedience" after workers protesting were threatened with unemployment.

The filmer told Newsflare: "The official working hours in the state departments start at 8 am.

"They [the demonstrators] stopped working in government departments.

"The authorities have threatened employees who are on strike to dismiss them from work.

"The demonstrators blocked roads to give the argument to the employees," to show solidarity.
