All 39 victims of the Essex truck human smuggling tragedy were Vietnamese nationals, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security announced on November 7, 2019.  In one of the deadliest human smuggling cases in the United Kingdom in nearly two decades, 31 men and 8 women were found dead in the back of a refrigerated truck in Essex near London on October 23.
