This is the moment police arrested an alleged drug dealer who tried to hide underwater in a canal in Thailand.

Officers raided the homes of Burin Suwannakan, 37, in Songkhla, southern Thailand on Thursday (November 28) morning after they received complaints about him selling drugs to a teenager.

Burin fled out the back door and leapt into the filthy snake-infested water. But the game was up for the alleged crook after police spotted bubbles coming up from the water.

The suspected dealer was dragged out of the water and handcuffed. While a bag of methamphetamine that he allegedly tried to hide under the water floated to the surface.

Footage shows the moment when the dealer was handcuffed and was asked about the impound but he refused to tell the police.

Officers seized a 0.18oz bag of methamphetamine tablets from the water that they claim Burin was selling.

They searched the alleged drug dealer's house and also seized his mobile phone and a weighing machine.

Police Colonel Sataporn Kaewsanit said that Burin had been detained on suspicion of possessing drugs for the purpose of dealing.

He said: "The suspect faces charges of possessing drugs for dealing but we will interrogate him until he provides information about his bigger suppliers. He will tell us everything.''
