A pipeline explosion in west Lagos has caused multiple fires in Ipaja area of the city this morning (December 5).

Footage shows residents of the Idowu-Egba Estate stuck after fire consumes a footbridge and surrounding area.

It has been widely suggested on social media that the explosion was caused by vandalism.

The blast sent huge clouds of black smoke into the skies.
