A man who went on a massive drinking binge was finally rescued from a sewer after he was trapped there for three days.
The store owner in front of the manhole cover was the first one to discover the man after he heard voices under the ground asking for help on November 30.
The bike store owner in Rizal province, the Philippines, said the man let out a finger in one of the holes so he knew that the sound was definitely coming from the ground.
The store owner asked for help from local authorities to take out the cover so the man could get out. They brought a towing truck to lift the metal cover.
Onlooker Marc Kollin Picadizo said the rescue operation lasted for about two hours.
He said that the man said he cannot remember why he was trapped in the first place, but he was already there for at least three days.
Marc said: "When the ambulance came to take him, the nurses asked if he knew his name. He said he can't remember. He doesn't know how he got there."
The man, who was not named, told paramedics he remembered getting drunk ''a few days ago'' but had no recollection of how he ended up in the sewer.
He said: ''I think I had been drinking all day and night then I don't remember what happened. I was down there for a few days. I don't remember all of it.''
The man was taken to hospital in the town of Binangonan where he was checked over and fed and given water before being released.
