America's Population Growth Falls
to Century-Low Level.
The U.S. Census Bureau says
population numbers have only
increased by 1,552,022 since 2018.
That's even slower than in the 1930s when the Great Depression occurred.
There are a couple factors as to
why the population rate is declining.
One is that the number of immigrants moving to
America has fallen.
595,348 were recorded for 2019,
a drop from 2016's 1,046,709.
Another reason is the decline
in births with 42 states
seeing numbers fall.
Figures for newborns topped
figures for the deceased
by less than a million.
In West Virginia, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, deaths even outnumbered births.
The Brookings Institution's William Frey says declining immigration numbers and a overall population could lead to big issues. .
