Rival mountain tribes race against each other in handmade wooden go-karts in their annual '"Grand Prix" festival.
The Hmong people of Phayao, northern Thailand, converged on the winding downhill circuit on Sunday (January 19) afternoon.
Womenfolk danced in traditional costumes while men climbed aboard wooden race karts and sped down the 820ft high mountain past cheering crowds.
Six different clans from the tribes competed against each other in the event organised by provincial authorities to celebrate their heritage.
The colourful event has become a popular tourist attraction for those living in the surrounding areas.
