Chana dal /split chickpeas/Bengal gram is a delicious vegetarian recipe and it is again a very popular known food in India.Chana dal is undoubtedly one of the most delicious lentils.It can be made in many ways,generally we add tempering/tadka/baghar after boiling dal but today the recipe is to make by adding tempering/tadka before .If some of you want then can give extra tadka/baghar after also which will undoubtedly makes your dal more delicious .Chana dal goes well with roti and rice. In India ,in mostly every meal dal is always added.In India dal is made in many ways and can be cooked soupy or of thick consistency,its absolutely your choice,its your personal preference but I will recommend to cook chana dal at thick consistency as its taste might change when it will be soupy.This simple recipe can be prepared anytime with easily available ingredients like,chili,salt,turmeric,onion,tomatoes,ginger-garlic etc. So my easy and delicious chana dal recipe is here ,specially for vegetarians.Its a single pot instant recipe of mine.It will make things so easier for you that you will regularly plan to cook this way.I am sharing my simple ,quick and made with available ingredients recipe with you all today.If you want to make this way in open pot then I will recommend to soak dal for few hours or overnight.Prefer cooking in pressure cooker so will get done more easily and quickly.In my home everyone prefers little less cooked dal,so if you want more well cooked then can cook it for further 2 to 3 mins more.If you like my recipe then please don't forget to like,share and subscribe to my channel chop n chill,thanks..lets start the recipe..
Ingredients for the recipe :
-1 cup/200 gm chana dal/Bengal gram(soaked in warm water for 20 to 30 mins)
-1/3 cup oil/tel
-1 medium size finely chopped onion/pyaaz
-1 medium size finely chopped tomato/tamater
-1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste/adrak lehsun
-1 chopped green chili/hari mirch
-1/2 tsp Asafetida/hing powder
-1 tsp cumin seeds/zeera
-1/2 tsp turmeric/haldi powder
-1/2 tsp red chili/lal mirch powder or as per taste
-1 tsp garam masala powder(prefer homemade)
-1 tsp coriander powder/dhaniya powder
-1 tsp salt or as per taste
-1 tsp roasted cumin powder/zeera powder bhuna
-2 cups water/pani(420 ml)
For extra tadka (Optional)
-2 tsp of ghee
-1 tsp cumin/zeera seeds
-1/2 tsp kashmiri red chili powder
For garnishing :
-2 chopped green chilies/hari mirch
-Handful of chopped coriander/hara dhaniya
Notes: Prefer pressure cooker for cooking for easy and quick cooking.
Always use proper measuring spoons and cups for perfect measurement.
