Holi , the festival of colors, is about to arrive and Holashtak begins eight days before that . No auspicious work is done during these eight days and it also ends with Holika Dahan. This year Holashtak will start from 3 March which will end with Holika Dahan on 9 March and Rangotsav will be celebrated with great enthusiasm on 10 March. If seen according to the date, from the Ashtami to the full moon of the bright fortnight of Phalgun month, it is considered to be Holashtak. Which also ends with Holika Dahan. No auspicious works are done in Holashtak. According to ancient belief, negative energy is more effective during this period. Holika is manufactured to eliminate the effect of this negative energy. Especially if Holi is burnt with pure condoms made from cow dung, positive energy can be transmitted.

रंगों का त्योहार होली आने ही वाला है और इसके आठ दिनों पहले से ही शुरू हो जाता है होलाष्टक। इन आठ दिनों में कोई शुभ काम नहीं किया जाता और होलिका दहन के साथ ही यह समाप्त भी हो जाता है। इस वर्ष होलाष्टक 3 मार्च से शुरू होगा जो 9 मार्च को होलिका दहन के साथ ही समाप्त हो जाएगा और 10 मार्च को रंगोत्सव हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाएगा। तिथि अनुसार देखा जाए तो फाल्गुन मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की अष्टमी से लेकर पूर्णिमा तक होलाष्टक माना जाता है। जो होलिका दहन के साथ ही समाप्त भी हो जाता है। होलाष्टक में कोई शुभ काम नहीं किये जाते। प्राचीन मान्यता के अनुसार इस अवधि में नकारात्मक ऊर्जा का प्रभाव अधिक होता है। इस नकारात्मक ऊर्जा के प्रभाव को समाप्त करने के लिए ही होलिका का निर्माण किया जाता है। विशेषकर गाय के गोबर से निर्मित शुद्ध कंडों से होली का दहन किया जाए तो सकारात्मक ऊर्जा का संचार किया जा सकता है ।
