Views 1

Afghan artist Rada Akbar pays tribute to Afghan women -- past and present -- who have spent their lives resisting the patriarchy. From a queen who opened the first school for girls in Kabul to a 19-year-old accused of adultery and stoned to death and a female footballer persecuted by the Taliban because of her passion for sports, the exhibition highlights the stories of powerful women in the country through costumes.
