This video* is about the All-India Muslim League Session in Lahore from March 22-24, 1940. Only a few days prior to this historic session, police had massacred Khaksars in Lahore (on March 19, 1940). They had also arrested Mashriqi, his sons, and many Khaksars, along with injuring Allama Mashriqi’s other son (Ehsanullah Khan Aslam). An atmosphere of gloom prevailed in the country. As a result, a large number of people attended the session in support of Mashriqi, his sons, and the Khaksars. The Muslim League felt that the crowd would not allow the session to continue if the League did not address the Khaksar issue. In order to pacify the public, banners (see the beginning of the video) were hung demanding the Punjab Government to hold an independent inquiry into the Khaksar murder. On one of the banners, it stated that the Muslim League would not rest until justice is delivered to the Khaksars. In the video, Jinnah can be seen speaking to the crowd in order to calm them down; he had promised the public that he would not leave Lahore until the Khaksar issues were resolved by the Government. However, after the Session, he left Lahore and then took no action. Jinnah did not even visit Mashriqi in jail or his family in Lahore.
