Spain’s coronavirus-related death toll passed a grim milestone on March 25, 2020, surpassing that of China, the original epicentre of what is now a global pandemic. As of March 26, Spain had confirmed 47,610 cases and 3,434 deaths. The country now has the second largest number of deaths reported, following Italy. The Spanish government has meanwhile decided to extend a nationwide lockdown for another two weeks until April 11.
