Authorities in the South African city of Cape Town are erecting tents for homeless people to live in during the coronavirus outbreak.

South Africa is under a 21-day lockdown with people being asked to remain indoors.

The city's homeless, who can't self-isolate, are being given the "safe spaces" which include access to sanitation.

According to local councillor Zahid Baderodien, the first site will accommodate between 250 and 300 people with more set to open in the near future.
