India’s three-week national lockdown that started March 25, 2020 has caused tens of thousands of migrant workers to flee major cities after they lost jobs  as businesses shut down. Authorities have been scrambling to arrange transport for workers to return to their home villages. Many have started walking toward their villages even though their journeys may be hundreds of kilometres.
