All zoos in India have been asked to remain on ‘highest alertness’ and monitor animals 24x7 for any abnormal behavior, after a tiger at the Bronx Zoo in New York tested positive for the coronavirus. Zoos have also been asked to send samples of animals suspected to be sick, to three designated animal health institutes to initiate COVID-19 testing.

भारतीय केंद्रीय चिड़ियाघर प्राधिकरण ने देश के सभी चिड़ियाघरों को चेतावनी जारी करते हुए कहा है कि वे अतिरिक्त सतर्कता बरतें और किसी भी असामान्य व्यवहार के लिए सीसीटीवी के माध्यम से जानवरों की सतत निगरानी करें।विश्व पशु स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने भी अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि इस बात का कोई सबूत नहीं है कि संक्रमित जानवर अपने द्वारा संक्रमण को और ज्यादा जानवरों में फैला सकते हैं। हालांकि उन्होंने यह भी सुझाव दिया कि पालतू जानवरों के मालिक उन्हें जितना हो सके घरों के अंदर ही रखें।
