This is the moment a group of teens flee from a drone camera sent by the police to disperse them and enforce the country's COVID-19 lockdown.
One of them flees desperately losing a sarong he had wrapped around his to cover his face. But he decides to give it up and continues to run to dodge the relentlessly pursuing drone.
Tirupur Police in South India received information on April 14 that a group of teens had been spotted in the Mannarai area of the town. They sent a drone and the camera promptly caught the group playing carrom under a tree.
The revellers started running in different directions as soon as they spotted the drone. Two of them returned to fetch a scooter. Two more came back risking the wrath of the drone to retrieve the carrom board and the stool on which it was placed.
The teen carrying the carrom board fled holding it on his head with his hands. As the camera chased him, he ran for his life. But his escape came to an abrupt halt as his sarong came loose and fell on the ground.
He paused taking care to keep his face covered with the carrom board and thought of getting his sarong back. But as the drone continued to whizz over his head, he fled in his underwear abandoning both the sarong and the carrom board.
Tirupur police said similar incidents were captured in other parts of the district as well. “We appeal people to realise how serious the situation is and stay inside,“ said an official.
