Delhi-NCR pollution: Air Quality Index Touches 'Severe' Level

Air pollution from hazardous particulate matter climbed back to alarming levels in the Delhi area on Tuesday morning after an overnight dip, data from the Central Pollution Control Board show. The government's Air Quality Index (AQI) data says major pollutants, PM 2.5 and PM 10, were recorded at 456 (severe) and 287 (poor), respectively, in Lodhi Road area on Tuesday morning. Other areas of Delhi that recorded worst air quality included Parparganj (565); Anand Vihar (553); DITE Okhla (533); PGDAV College, Sriniwaspuri (547); ITI Shahdra, Jhilmil Industrial Area, Delhi (576); Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi (414); Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range (487); New Delhi US Embassy (504); Mandir Marg, Delhi (522); RK Puram (426); Sri Aurobindo Marg, Delhi (478); and Sonia Vihar Water Treatment Plant DJB, Delhi (522). The situation is worst in Noida and Ghaziabad areas too. The areas with high pollutant levels included Sector 125, Noida (516); Sector 62, Noida (714); Vasundhara, Ghaziabad (654); Sanjay Nagar (550); Knowledge Park III, Greater Noida (460).
