Year 2003 film Hungama is one of the best comedy films in Bollywood. The film is getting its sequel and it was scheduled for the release on Independence Day this year. However, it has been postponed to indefinite time due to coronavirus pandemic. Sequel of the film stars Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash. Meezaan is Javed Jaffrey’s son. But did you know that he wasn’t the first choice for the film? Well, popular director Priyadarshan had earlier approached the top actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Kartik Aaryan and Siddharth Malhotra. However, all of them rejected the offer. Priyadarshan confirmed the same and said, “They all refused because maybe they thought I am an outdated director, because I was out of the Hindi film industry for five years.” In his 3 decades-long career, he has directed over 95 films which include hit comedy films like Hera Pheri, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and others. Talking about the status of Hungama 2, he said, “We had 12 more days of shoot left. We were to shoot in Kullu-Manali, there was one song and few scenes left. Almost 80 per cent of the film is complete. We could have finished the film by now if not for coronavirus. I enjoyed doing the film, I am happy with it. I hope when people see it, they like it too.”
