This is the dramatic moment a critically ill 12-year-old girl was evacuated by helicopter between hospitals during a tropical storm to survive a life-threatening illness.

The youngster was diagnosed with chronic renal failure and lung failure last Thursday (May 28) afternoon in Tak, northern Thailand.

However, she needed an emergency transfer to a more advanced hospital in Phitsanulok 248 miles away.

Doctors had to balance the risks of travelling through the storm by helicopter with the urgent need for better medical treatment.

They went to the transfer and a team of air paramedics, dubbed the "Sky Doctors", took over the evacuation of the critically-ill girl.

"Sky Doctor" is a medical program in Thailand originally launched to respond to accidents on rural roads where using an ambulance would take too long.

Footage shows the moment the girl was rushed into the Sky Doctor Bell 212 helicopter to move her across the northern region.

The pilot had to fly under heavy rain to deliver the girl before she died from her symptoms.

The girl was successfully transferred in time and is now in a stable condition.
