This is the terrifying moment a tornado whipped up clouds of dust and blew over concrete posts during storms in Thailand today (April 13). Drivers were shocked when the swirling vortex moved across fields and onto a road in Si Racha in Chonburi province at 1pm local time. The mini tornado tore down concrete posts and picked up a metal taxi stand, which landed on a parked lorry and truck. Shocked onlooker Nong Jirapat said: ''We were so close to to the tornado I could feel it inside our car. I was so scared, thought it was coming towards us.'' Summer storms swept through northern Thailand on Sunday night before moving south towards the capital Bangkok today. Thunder and lightning as well as flash floods arrived in the capital following strong wind, rain and hail which caused extensive damage to buildings in northern regions. Footage shows trees and road signs being blown as locals struggle with the gales. That was followed by downpours which caused flash floods. The storms moved from the north of the country into the central region. Last night, dozens of homes were damaged in Phitsanulok province and officials were assisting with repairs. Golf-ball sized hail stones also lashed Nong Bua Lamphu province, damaging the homes of locals who are also suffering from the economic slump caused by the coronavirus. Thailand's Meteorological Department said there will be summer thunderstorms in provinces mainly in the northeast part of Thailand from April 12 to 14.
