Demonstrations were largely peaceful across the United States overnight as hundreds of thousands of Americans continue to protest the death of George Floyd, with sporadic reports of violence and destruction alongside passionate pleas to stop police brutality against Black Americans.

Riot control officers were seen expanding the perimeter around the White House on Wednesday, a day after the largest and most peaceful protest seen so far, according to Global News Washington Bureau Chief Jackson Proskow who has been covering the Floyd protests in D.C.

One thing that may have contributed to the growing sense of peace is the fact that there are curfews in place in most of these cities. In Washington D.C., a preview of what President Trump has threatened to do right across the country -- military and National Guard patrolling the streets, military helicopters flying low over the streets to disperse crowds from the wind of their rotors.

The civil unrest began on May 25th following Floyd's death in Minneapolis after a police officer was filmed kneeling on his neck during an arrest.
