A group of friends drag racing at a remote hill in the Philippines turned into a nasty accident after one of them lost control and fell off a cliff.

The unfortunate accident happened in Maayon town in Capiz province.

In video of the scene, the excitement of the spectators turned into shock when one of the racers went straight down the cliff as he approached the finish line.

The racers were identified as Tingting, 26, and Jhon, 18, who are neighbours. No one was seriously injured in the incident.

The winner was supposed to take home 100 pesos ( 2 USD) but the race was cut short.

An onlooker said: "It was all just for fun but we did not expect that accident to happen. Anyway, they are now in a good situation and are planning to have another race again."
