The line from a Marathi couplet has been life's motto for Colonel JK Chaurasia under whose command the Maratha Regiment destroyed two Pakistani posts across the Line of Control in 1999. The native of Lucknow's Charbagh lost his right foot in the gory Kargil War, but 20 years down the line, he says he wouldn't have had it any other way.

कारगिल युद्ध में भारतीय जांबाजो की वीरता को कभी भुलाया नहीं जा सकता. क्योंकि ये युद्ध की दुनिया की सबसे ऊंचाई पर लड़ा गया था। इस युद्ध में सामरिक रूप से बैकफुट पर होने के बावजदूद भारतीय शूरवीरों पाकिस्तान के धोखे का ऐसा जवाब दिया था जिसे याद कर दुश्मन देश आज भी कांप उठता है। इस जंग में कई जांबाजों ने देश के लिए सर्वोच्च शहादत दी थी। वहीं कुछ जवान ऐसे थे जिन्होंने दुश्मन को भारी नुकसान और वो आज भी उसके जीते-जागते गवाह हैं। इन्हीं में से एक हैं कर्नल जेके चौरसिया।
