As lakhs of people in Assam have been displaced due to severe floods in the state, PM Narendra Modi on Thursday assured assistance by the state authorities while inaugurating a water supply project in Manipur, through a video conference.
Due to incessant rains in the past few days, the water levels of Brahmaputra river and its tributaries have crossed the danger mark in Assam.
In Guwahati, the water level of Brahmaputra river has crossed the danger level mark by 49.68 meters and is gradually increasing, sources said. Nearly 27 lakh people of 25 districts out of 33 total districts of the state have been affected by the deluge. For more, watch the full video.
