New research suggests that our mouth and teeth health is intimately connected to our brain health.
Severe gum disease or missing teeth in your early 60’s could lead to dementia, says Gizmodo.
The increased risk was high for those with mouth troubles in comparison to people with no gum disease.
Among those who had severe gum disease at the start of the study, 22% went on to have dementia.
23% of those with no teeth in their 60's also eventually developed dementia.
Meanwhile, 14% percent of people without gum disease developed dementia.
