According to a Washington Post report, postal workers and union leaders fear that new USPS procedures could impact mail in voting for the November election.
According to CNN, the Post is reporting up to 2-day delays in mail delivery, nationwide.
The new US Postal Service policies come under the leadership of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a longtime Donald Trump supporter and fundraiser.
He stepped into the Postmaster role in June, when the new policies were shared.
The new policies include workers' hours being cut back and overtime being slashed.
The cost cutting measure will save the USPS around $200 million dollars.
But workers and union leaders are concerned that the current backlog is worsening to the point where workers fear they won't be able to locate all voters' ballots in time for them to be processed.
On Thursday, Trump said that delays processing the mail-in votes would undermine the legitimacy of the November 3 election and suggested delaying it.
